Fishing-
Bass Lake Resort is
conveniently and centrally located within a variety of fishing
opportunities that will satisfy every fisherman – from the
avid angler right on down to the grandkids! Aside from our namesake,
our private lake called Bass Lake (bet you can’t figure
out how it got its name) you will find Oneida Lake 15 miles to
the south, Lake Ontario 30 miles to the east, the Salmon River
is 10 miles to the north - and the St. Lawrence River another
40 miles past that. Furthermore, Happy Valley Game Preserve is
adjacent to our Resort. Each of these nearby fishing meccas is
famously known for an abundant variety of species. Here is a brief
list of the fish you’ll find in their waters:
• Oneida Lake is best known for its Walleye, Bass, Pickerel,
and pan fish.
• Lake Ontario is known for its trophy game-fish such Lake
Trout, Steelhead and Salmon as well as Sturgeon, Whitefish, Lake
Herring and Perch. Charter boats are readily available to take
you out on ‘the big lake.’
• The Salmon River (another tough one about why it’s
named that) is home to the famous annual Salmon Run where they
make their annual migration to their spawning grounds every autumn.
• The St. Lawrence River is home to an abundance of species,
but is best known for Pike and Muskie in its deep channels. And,
alongside one of the river’s quieter bays you’ll find
the town of Waddington, ‘Carp Capital of the World.’
• Happy Valley Game Preserve is the third largest game management
preserve in New York State and its border is just a few hundred
yards from our Resort entrance. Here you find a myriad of natural
ponds and streams interconnected by trails that are home to Trout,
Bass, Bullhead, Sunfish, Blue-Gill, and other Crappie. At different
seasons you’re also permitted to hunt, hike, ATV and snowmobile
in Happy Valley.
• And finally you’ll find our own private Bass Lake
home of the famous annual Father-Son Fishing Tournament on Father’s
Day. Here you also find Bass, Pickerel, Bullhead, and Crappie.
You’ll delight fishing this fertile eco-system, either from
the shore or by one of the Resorts rowboats or paddleboats.
Come stay at Bass Lake and fish your heart out! And when your
not angling there’s a whole private resort for your enjoyment!
